Compare CarsTXT with other rental car services

On many peer-to-peer rental services, hosts keep 70%, 80% or 90% of each trip depending on the protection plan they choose. On CarsTXT you list free, pay a flat $49.99 each time your car rents and keep 100% of the rental price. Here's an honest comparison, insurance included.

Cost comparison for one car

Platform fees only, for one rental. Other services' share depends on the protection plan you pick (you keep 70%, 80% or 90%).

Host shares are typical of large U.S. peer-to-peer rental services as of 2026; they vary and can change. Fees shown before taxes and other costs.

The honest difference: insurance

Other services' host share usually includes host protection plans. CarsTXT does not insure your car or guarantee renters. On CarsTXT you need your own insurance that covers renting out your car, and you check each renter's license and insurance yourself. Add that cost when you compare.

CarsTXT tends to make sense for owners who already have commercial or rental coverage (small fleets, dealers, rental businesses) and owners whose rentals earn more than about $500 each, where a flat fee beats a percentage.

Questions

Is CarsTXT cheaper than other rental car services?

In platform fees, CarsTXT costs less whenever a rental earns more than about $500 compared with a platform that lets you keep 90%, or more than about $250 compared with an 80% plan. But the platform's share includes protection plans, and CarsTXT does not insure your car, so include your own insurance cost.

Does CarsTXT take a commission?

No. Owners list free, pay a flat $49.99 each time their car rents, and keep 100% of the rental price.

Can I list on another rental service and CarsTXT?

CarsTXT doesn't stop you. Check the other service's terms, and keep your calendars in sync to avoid double bookings.

Who checks the renter?

You do, with help. Renters upload their driver's license and ID details to CarsTXT before booking, but CarsTXT does not guarantee any renter, so check the renter's license and insurance yourself before handing over the keys.
